Limburg

Limberger cheese may not be everyone's favorite, but the town of Limberg was certainly a delight!  Our navigation system misdirected us and took us first to the edge of town.  Before turning around we saw this awesome church in the distance and headed there before returning to the town center.
The Church of St. Lubentius

If you can believe it, this church was built in 1387!

And the little building to the side, its first chapel, was begun in 1000 A.D.

The organ lofts are always so beautiful!

Maybe one of the knights on a crusade is being honored here.

It was beautifully situated on a hillside overlooking the countryside below.

We then headed back to the city of Limberg and were excited to see the spires of yet another church!

It is called the Limburg Dom (Cathedral)

There was even a schloss (castle) associated with the church!

Once again, we couldn't get enough of the crooked, half-timbered buildings! I'll just end this post with a number of these, one of our favorite things about living in Germany!

  1. Whoa. That is a lot of half timber! I love that yellow house (fourth picture from bottom).
